Workshop: Revenue for Startups (english)

13:00
How can you get more people to give you more money with only a bit more work?
Or maybe even for a bit less work?
Every business has potential for generating more money. Write a piece of software, turn it into a mobile app – and make more money. Open a restaurant, add home delivery – and make more money. Change product colour, put on a new sticker – and make more money!
Join our collaborative Revenue workshop for an intense discussion of your business with westartup Mentors and with your fellow entrepreneurs. After four hours you will walk out with a concrete list of practical, specific things to do in order to generate more revenue – not with more theoretic blah-blah.
All westartup workshops are carried out by volunteer experts with hands-on experience in either entrepreneurship in general or in a specific field of business practice.
Topic: revenue for startups – how to make more money while doing what you already do
Mentors:
Nick De Mey is one of the founders at Board of Innovation, a consultancy specialized in developing innovative business models, from new revenue streams to partnerships. Helping companies – from tiny start-ups to industrial mega-giants – figure out new ways of generating more money is Nick’s day job, and there are few people around better than him!
Patrick Crehan used to be a Mathematical Physicist, but he gave up the glamour of pure science for the somewhat more exciting life of entrepreneurship. His first company is an innovation management consultancy – he advises large and small companies as well as government. In addition, Patrick is founder and director of three other companies in the fields of construction and software development, and has significant experience in both securing funding and running businesses.
Fee: € 60 (including VAT) for westartup community members; € 90 for non-members
Who should attend: entrepreneurs with existing early-stage businesses or persons/teams with clearly defined business ideas.

Workshop : Marketing for startups (english)
sept
23
13:00
That old story about better mouse traps is rubbish: these days if you don’t tell people about your new biz, no-one will find out about it. And don’t forget – everyone else out there is also trying to get some attention for their businesses.
So how do you – a star-up with no cash – beat all the big boys at the communications game? Find out what you need to do at our Marketing for Startups workshop with your peers and westartup Mentors. After four hours of intense discussion you will walk out with a concrete list of practical, specific marketing things to do with (virtually) no money in order to get yourself heard – not with more theoretic blah-blah.
All westartup workshops are carried out by volunteer experts with hands-on experience in either entrepreneurship in general or in a specific field of business practice.
Topic: marketing for startups – best ways to reach your audience at practically no cost at all
Mentors:
David Hachez is back! Expert in digital marketing and branding, he’s worked on the Agency side with the famous Duval Guillaume as Digital Strategist. He’s also put in some time with the less known outfits such as Microsoft and Mediaedge. These days he practices what he used to preach as co-founder of RazWar – and spectacularly well, too.
Leo Exter is a co-founder at westartup. He’s built a European brand (Mio Technology) from scratch with a bit of creativity and a lot of elbow grease and has tried his hand at almost every kind of marketing activitiy known to mankind (so long as it was cheap and produced good results).
Joining for the first time is Michel Defloor. After starting his career as product manager in a software start-up, Michel moved into marketing. He was a B2B marketing and strategy consultant for several years, and is now in charge of marketing for Alcatel-Lucent Benelux. In addition to this hat, he carries around one more for innovation management (as member of the company’s innovation board, which a.o. coordinates investments into new internal or external ventures). If you’re thinking of (eventually) selling your startup to one of the big boys, he’s definitely the man to talk to!
Who should attend: entrepreneurs with existing early-stage businesses or persons/teams with clearly defined business ideas.
This workshop can welcome: up to 15 people
Fee: € 60 (including VAT) for westartup community members; € 90 (including VAT) for non-members

Do you need money to start your business? How much? Where do you go to get it? Will you get it if you ask for it? If not – what do you need to do make sure you do get it?
Come to our Funding for Startups workshop for an in-depth conversation about your business with westartup Mentors and fellow entrepreneurs.
After four hours you will know exactly what practical, specific things you need to do first to get the money to start your business rolling. Philippe Rooseleer’s day job is helping companies raise starting and growth capital.
In his spare time he helps companies with mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning, international expansion, that sort of thing. Oh, and he has three (yep, 3) masters’ degrees in such esoteric fields as Controllership, Applied Economics and Business Administration. Toss in two decades of career in finance and operations management at companies such as Solva
y and Noordnatie – and you’ll see why we’ve invited him to Mentor for this workshop.
This workshop can welcome up to 5 participants.
Fee: € 60 (including VAT) for westartup community members; € 90 for non-members
Who should attend: entrepreneurs with existing early-stage businesses or persons/teams with clearly defined business ideas.
